Throughout the story, teenage boys known as Gladers must fight to survive and stay alive in a world that is hostile and unforgiving. They must deal with the dangers of the Maze, as well as the threats posed by the mysterious organization known as WICKED. The Gladers must be constantly on the lookout for new ways to overcome obstacles and find solutions to problems. They have to be creative and adaptable in order to survive in the harsh and ever-changing environment of the maze. The boys must also learn to work together and support each other to survive. They must forge strong bonds and trust each other to overcome the challenges that they face. It shows that, to survive, it is necessary to rely on one another and work together, even when it is difficult or seems impossible, this is shown in the book as, “Thomas landed again the wall and spun just in time to see the second creature tumble over the edge, not being able to stop itself. The third one planted a heavily spiked arm into the stone, but its momentum was too much.”(James Dashner 137). This is because in the book, a few hours ago, Minho didn't really like Thomas, but now, as Minho watches Thomas, he realizes that Thomas is amazing at surviving in the Maze and is copying his moves. This is matched by the snippet, “Ready!’ Minho yelled next to Thomas, raising his barbed wire-wrapped club into the air with one hand, a long silver knife in the other. He pointed the knife at the horde of Grievers; a flash glinted off the blade. ‘Now!’”(James Dashner 337), when the Gladers encountered the Grievers in the Maze, as a team they all fought off the Grievers. This scene clearly shows that the Gladers are united and will overcome the Grievers as a team, thus exhibiting the theme of survival requiring teamwork. It also illustrates the idea that, sometimes, the greatest acts of survival and strength come from the willingness to make sacrifices and put the needs of others before our
