Imagine a world where there are no smart phones or social media; or internet for that matter. Imagine a world where if you wanted to take a picture, you would have to paint it. Imagine a world where there is no way to share an experience with your friends right at that moment. Back in the 20th century, this is the world people had to live in. Their technology was nowhere near as advanced as ours is today. That is why technology was the greatest change in the 1900s. There were so many inventions back in the 1900s, much of which we still use today. The assembly line was invented in the 1913 by the Ford Motor Company. The assembly line allowed things to be built a lot faster, such as cars or food. This was a huge advancement to technology because it sped the building process up and opened the door to many other things. The air conditioner was a big help in the 1900s, and still is today, by spitting out cool air on scorching hot days. What if the air conditioner had not been invented? Imagine what it would be like to have to cope with the heat in the summer! That is why the air conditioning unit was one of the most important technological advances. Some more good inventions from the 1900s were the model T Ford, the muffler, an easier starter, and the transmission band. The muffler made the car engine a lot quieter as the old ones were noisy. This new car was much easier to start. The old cars had a complicated starter. The transmission band gave a better feel to the gas pedal. The vacuum cleaner was also invented during this time. In 1901, Hubert Cecil Booth invented the vacuum cleaner. This new invention saved people from having to beat the dirt out of their rugs in order to clean them.
