The Industrial Revolution marked the start of a whole new beginning for society in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The revolution brought about new technology in order to eliminate the precarious and unpleasant conditions that workers had faced in that time period. The technology also made jobs much more easy during this time. One form of technology that was created to make life more easy was the steam engine. The steam engine was essentially produced to pump water out of mines, however, it was later enhanced to be a way to power machinery and forms of transportation. Some believe that robots are going to take over all jobs that are currently being conducted by humans. An annual Work and Education poll was taken by Gallup, simply asking if employees were worried about six changes happening in their workplace. Swift states in his article “Few U.S. Workers Worry About Tech Making Their Job Obsolete,” “the results, showing that 13% are worried that ‘in the near future’ their job ‘will become obsolete or unnecessary because of technology’”. Only 13 percent of American workers believe that they will no longer have a job in the future due to the advancements of technology. With technology being placed everywhere, more jobs will begin to open up. People will be needed in order to keep the softwares up to date and to repair the computers when something goes wrong or breaks. Another job opportunity that opens up with the advancement of technology is social media coordinators. Many businesses have begun to use social media as a way of promoting products, which allows for much more business as the social media spreads across the world. Technology has allowed for communication to become much more easy. Many businesses require employees to travel, therefore when an employee is out of town and has a business meeting to attend back at home, they can simply video chat the other employees back in their hometown. Another positive impact of technology is allowing people with physical disabilities to be assisted. According to Joe Hessert, “speech producing devices help various people with speech impairments to make use of technology for their assistance. Similarly, hearing and visually impaired people also get benefit from the advancement of technology” (7 Positive Effects of Technology in Modern Day Business). One last advantage of technology in the workplace is the accuracy that it provides. Technology allows data to be accurately observed and calculated, which allows for no mistakes in the process. Programs such as excel sheets allows for data
