Introduction
Gaming Technology is constantly evolving and has come a long way since becoming mainstream in the 1970/1980s. Technology that would have been unthinkable back then are possible in today’s generation of technology. To this date there is Eight generations of game consoles all which have made a huge impact on Game Technology. PC gaming also holds a large market share in Asia and Europe, growing everyday due to Digital Distribution. Through this report I’ll be discussing two elements which have made an impact on the gaming industry, one hardware piece and one software.

Nintendo first began experimenting with stereoscopic 3D technology back in the 1980s. The first product created using this technology was the Famicom (also known as Nintendo Entertainment System outside Japan) 3D System which consisted of a pair of liquid crystal shutter glasses and an adapter to connect them to the Famicoms expansion port. Very few titles were created for it and the accessory was not commercially successful therefor wasn’t released outside Japan.[1] Even though the Famicom had little success, Nintendo still continued on experimenting with 3D technology. The creator of the well-known Game boy developed a new 3D console known as the Virtual Boy. The Virtual Boy was a portable 32-bit console consisting of a pair of googles and a controller that used a spinning disk to produce the stereoscopic 3D effect. The system was released in 1995 the device sold less than one million units and only spawned 22 game titles. As a result the device was labelled as a commercial failure. This failure
