“Teen Driver” Essay In America what age group would you consider to be a bad driver? Most people would consider teens to be bad drivers. It has been proven that teens aged sixteen to eighteen are more at risk of reckless driving than people who are older that have more experience. So that gets into the next issue that needs to be addressed. Teenagers have bad driving habits that need to be addressed quickly to fix any and all problems. First, teens have bad habits when they are behind the wheel of their vehicle. In the article it says, “Teens are also more likely to have an accident while driving a car filled with their friends” (“Teen Drivers” para. 4). This shows that teen drivers are get distracted very easily and that they aren’t mature enough to be driving with multiple people in the car. Another point the article addresses is that “Most nighttime fatal crashes among young drivers occur between 9 p.m. and midnight” (“Teen Drivers” para.

For example, “Limit the number of friends you transport. Of course, you will want to take your friends places, but try to limit the load to one or two at a time” (“Teen Drivers” para. 10). This is an amazing solution to the problem we first highlighted on earlier in the essay. When teenagers limit the number of people they have in the vehicle there is a less likely chance of distractions. The article also says, “To counteract the poor safety records of teens, thirty-seven states have instituted “graduated licenses” for teen drivers” (“Teen Drivers” para. 7). This is an amazing solution. The graduated licenses has teens go through three stages of requirements before they are eligible to get their unlimited driver's license. These solutions are a good way to get teens focused to keep them safe while they are behind the wheel. It assures they have less distractions to make sure they are focused on the road at all
