When we look around while walking down the street we often see mostly everyone on their phones or at least just glancing at it. When teens get together for example they get together at Mcdonald's there is internet connection. Automatically, teens connect to the internet for those who don’t have data. Once they do they often communicate by text to someone who is in the same room and by doing this it’s affecting their reading skills. College students are spending excessive time using devices, which cause them to be lazy and slowly damage their reading skills. College students have the internet at their fingertips and they can simply just research a topic in a short amount of time. Instead, of having to read newspapers, check out books, and find and read articles.

When teens and young adults spend hours daily using technology it is decreasing their reading and reading comprehension. In those nine hours, teens are watching movies, listening to music, on social media, and playing online games (Alvermann, D. E., & Harrison, C.) It’s unquestionable, teens and young adults need to reduce their amount of screen time or anything technology each day. Spending extensive amount of time using technology will harm your reading ability, which affect all over your learning
