Ecovia features the saying, “Stop the violence. Don’t text and drive.” According to the Federal Communications Commission, “(a)t any given daylight moment across America, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while driving, a number that has held steady since 2010.” Texting and driving has become a bigger problem as time goes on. Considering that statement, this ad features two vehicles in the “crash”. The violence that Ecovia mentions in the quote, refers to the harmful effects that texting and driving causes every day. Of course, the man being hit in the advertisement is in serious pain. They are hoping that showing the pain all across the man’s face will increase awareness. No one wants to cause harm to anyone else. By using sympathy through a harsh reality, this begs the audience to stop being distracted. This can only be done by putting a halt texting and driving.
At first, this advertisement targets seems to only target men around the age of fourty. According to their generation technology such as texting hasn’t been around forever. By featuring these two cars they are saying texting creates a domino effect. First the driver chooses to text, it then impacts the driver, until eventually it causes the accident.
