Have you ever been walking down the street and taken out your phone to send a text. Well, soon you might get fined for having your phone out on the streets. It's called distracted texting and many places all over the world are debating whether or not it should be illegal. Distracted texting, or texting while walking has become a big problem in the streets. Instead of look at their surrounding, people are paying attention to their phones. There are many different reasons why texting while walking should be illegal.Texting while walking has caused numerous pedestrian deaths, driver injuries, and people can not physically focus on their surroundings when they are looking at their phones.

The first reason why texting while walking should be illegal is because of the multiple pedestrian deaths it has caused. This number mirrors 2016 fatalities.” This is just one of the multiple articles that also have these statistics. These fatalities come partially from distracted walking. Making distracted walking a punishable offense is the best way to get people's attention and make them get off their phones.
