Due to a shortage of organ donors, many innocent people are dying everyday because they cannot receive an organ in time. There are so many people who have potential to be an organ donor, but don't know enough information to sign up. “Organ Transplantation is the surgical replacement of a patient's diseased or damaged organ with a healthy organ from someone else, who may be either dead or alive” (“Organ and Tissue”). Society needs to more more aware about the benefits that an organ donation can provide and be further willing to donate their organs in pursuance of saving innocent lives.
A numerous amount of people are not aware of the situation regarding organ donations and how it is an increasing problem. If only people knew about the significance that one healthy organ donor could do for multiple organ recipients, then many would sign up to become an organ donor. According to “Introduction of Organ Donations”:
More than 114,000 people in the United States, and millions more around the globe, are waiting for the heart, kidney or liver transplant that will save their lives. Many of those people—an average of 18 people per day—will die waiting, because there simply aren't enough organ donors to meet the need. (“Introduction of Organ Donations”)

This is mainly because certain religious beliefs forbid the idea of organ donation (Lynch). In “Religious Beliefs Can Impact Organ Donation”, Lynch remarks that “They think: ‘I have been born with these organs, God has given them to me, they are for my use and I don't think it is right to pass them on to anyone else.’ ”(Lynch). Religious beliefs cannot be taken from anyone, but no matter what beliefs a person chooses to follow, if you're buried or cremated your organs won't survive. This means that they are simply going to waste, when they could be benefiting those in
