When many people think of the American dream, they think of it as something concrete; meaning that if they work as hard as they can their work will pay off and they will be able to obtain a large amounts of money and other material
Many Americans work numerous long days with extended hours in order to achieve this goal. What separates people who achieve the dream and people who do not achieve it? The American dream is real but what many found is that it is not attainable to everyone due to the lack of education and financial status within their upbringing. The American dream at one point was what drew people to American; the right to life, liberty, and the happiness. The American dream is the hope to acquire currency, large homes, raise a middle-class family, and pursue what brings people joy in life. But in the year 2016, the American dream becomes hard to believe in. The American dream may still exist, but it is not equally accessible to all Americans. This is true because the American dream is not affordable for everyone, it is not available to everyone from different degrees of education, and race and ethnicity creates large social barriers.
The American dream is a term used in a lot of ways. Although research has shown that American dream can’t be attainable by most people, closer examination shows that it can be attainable by the following reasons. As Daniel J. Mitchell stated in New York Times im January 1st, 2015 “The United States is not a perfect country, but the American Dream is still a reality.” By that he meant that even with America’s Grow rate, poverty, unemployment rate in the past years and still going Americans can still chase their American dreams If we look at the history and the definition it shows that infact it is possible to attain it.
The American Dream is so essential to our country as it is an honor to reach your goals and make it a reality. The American Dream is the national ethos that people’s lives would be better and more abundant with many opportunities. The American Dream was more accessible to attain back in the days, however, changed over the years. Although the “American Dream” is still possible, many people, minorities are affected by the lack of improvement in social mobility in our society. The American Dream is still alive by being able to live a middle-class lifestyle and by obtaining it through perseverance and hard-work.
I Have a Dream The American dream has always been a staple of the American culture. When people speak of it, they say that the American dream, “is going from dirt poor to filthy rich and becoming more than you could have ever imagined” (They Say pg.611). It is where every citizen of the United States of America has the opportunity of its achievements no matter where they stand or what prejudices they may face. My definition of the American dream is basically the ideal life in America today.
Everyone lives life chasing a dream, a goal, success, and happiness. All people work hard to own their dream home, car, and have a family. This is the American Dream, the pursuit of happiness. The background and morals that you come from define you and it's up to yourself to determine if you will overcome the obstacles placed in your life.
American Dream James Truslow Adams, in his book which was written in 1931 and called “ The Epic of America” wrote about American dream, that American dream is about being richer and living in better life. Also that American dream is more materialistic, that people work a lot of hours to gain things which they want to have. Such as luxury cars, big houses. They want to be wealthy, rich and have all expensive things and live in a world of money and wealth.
The American dream is an illusion that is deeply implanted in the minds of the people, it sets a bar for life achievement and offers hope to work hard to achieve their dreams. As for Americans, they are raised in a society to where they are expected to make lots money and to have a healthy family. After all in our society success is largely based off positions of power and financial stability. For example, in The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there were multiple interpretations of the ideal American dream in the 1920s. In the 1920s, due to the growth of materialism, people advertised and fancied the power of money to fulfilling their dreams.
Everyone has their own idea of the American Dream. Although everyone’s idea of the American Dream is similar, media has done a very good job at altering our ideas of that dream. The dream used to be to work hard and get a good job that you enjoy and to make good money, now however, the dream is to have to latest and best technology, make a lot of money but not take any pride in their job, and become famous and known from all of the stuff that you own. Although this may seem appealing, America’s media has distorted the people’s view on the American Dream.
America is said to be the land of the free, the lavish land of endless opportunity. While possible for some, the American Dream is not available to the entire American population. They say Americans withhold the freedom to the American Dream because after all, we do have an infinite amount of resources to lead to that end goal. “All you need is your brilliant mind, and keep going to school. Then, you’ll find the stable dream job you’ve been yearning for,” is all that I’ve heard throughout my life, but does it hold true?

Nowadays, I feel like people consider the American dream to be more involved with materialistic things like money, the newest iPhone and stuff like that. The “American Dream” for our class is to achieve the life that makes you feel content. Our classes definition can be interpreted in different ways, and I don’t include materialistic things in my definition to the American dream.
