The higher education demographic you may have, the more money you’ll potentially have and you’ll have less of a chance of being unemployed. The median weekly earnings of just a high school diploma are approximately $678, while just an associate’s degree median weekly earnings is approximately $798. (Document A) Furthermore, those with a professional degree have an employment rate of 1.5% compared to the unemployment rate of 5.4% of high school diplomas.
Despite many Americans believing that the American Dream is no longer available as there are government restrictions that limit their potential for success in any fashion, others insist that the American government provides rights for the people of America to be able to constantly achieve what they believe to be the American Dream. The American dream at one point was what drew people to American; the right to life, liberty, and the happiness. The American dream is the hope to acquire currency, large homes, raise a middle-class family, and pursue what brings people joy in life. But in the year 2016, the American dream becomes hard to believe in. The American dream may still exist, but it is not equally accessible to all Americans. This is true because the American dream is not affordable for everyone, it is not available to everyone from different degrees of education, and race and ethnicity creates large social barriers.
The American dream is a term used in a lot of ways. Although research has shown that American dream can’t be attainable by most people, closer examination shows that it can be attainable by the following reasons. As Daniel J. Mitchell stated in New York Times im January 1st, 2015 “The United States is not a perfect country, but the American Dream is still a reality.” By that he meant that even with America’s Grow rate, poverty, unemployment rate in the past years and still going Americans can still chase their American dreams If we look at the history and the definition it shows that infact it is possible to attain it.
The American Dream is often sought of as the ultimate accomplishment. Millions of immigrants travel to the United States every year to chase after the American dream not only for themselves, but for their families too. No matter your social status, upbringing, ethnicity or gender, through hard work you can become anything, and my parents chased after that for me. Like many families before mine, my family on both sides of the family immigrated to America.
The American Dream: A Dream Yet Unfulfilled In today’s society, and through the use of social media, everyone that has an opinion, gains an instant platform to disseminate information to the masses. The problem that exist with this method results in wrong information being generated over various news mediums that lack fully educated views and research driven application. How can we filter through the noise and provide reliable information to keep the dream alive?

For numerous reasons, I don’t believe that America still provides access to the American Dream because the American Dream is for everyone to be successful and fortunate, and since everything is so pricey and some people are just not fit for it, it is hard to be successful. Some people may agree because they feel that America still provides access to the American Dream. However, I do believe that if it gave access enormously of us would be wealthier. Also, we would probably be living better. Therefore, I will challenge this claim that America provides access to the American Dream.
America is said to be the land of the free, the lavish land of endless opportunity. While possible for some, the American Dream is not available to the entire American population. They say Americans withhold the freedom to the American Dream because after all, we do have an infinite amount of resources to lead to that end goal. “All you need is your brilliant mind, and keep going to school. Then, you’ll find the stable dream job you’ve been yearning for,” is all that I’ve heard throughout my life, but does it hold true?

The American Dream Today many Americans have derived their own American dream, whether it be having money in the bank, or having a loving family. Today, According to “The Balance” they have decided that the American dream is, “The pursuit of happiness became the driver of entrepreneurial spirit that defines the free American market economy” (Amadeo 1). This shows their view of the American dream is to have your own business, and make your life comfortable. The question is, is it achievable by all Americans today?
To live comfortably is a wish that many people have growing up in America. We see people on television who have and have not worked harder than others to achieve this way of life. These people are able to pay their bills for the nice house saved up for, are able to provide for a decent sized family, and still have extra money in their pocket for themselves. The American Dream seems so accomplishable when looking at the people who have already achieved this, but looking up to these people, we do not realize that this dream is not a few steps ahead of us sitting on a pedestal; this dream is almost out of touch. But what is the reason that everyone cannot achieve this dream as easily as others?

The University of North Texas in their article “Why Go to College?” shows a graph from The U.S. Census Bureau that shows a professional degree could earn you around 4.4 million dollars compared to less than a high school diploma could earn you around 1 million dollars for a whole worklife. The original American Dream was not a dream of individual wealth, but rather a dream of equality, justice, and democracy for the country. Everyone has a dream. Although these dreams aren’t the ones you have while sleeping, they are the ones that drive you, challenge you and keep you fighting for the reality that they will become true. They are the dreams that you will work hard for. Martin Luther King Jr. even died while fighting for his dream to become a reality. They are the ones you hope will one day become a reality.
