The ASUS Chromebook is a lightweight, fast-connecting, battery storing, and fairly small device. According to reporter Harriet Taylor, as of 2018, 4.4 million of the 8.9 billion chromebooks sold, are sold to school districts. To put that into a different perspective, 30,000 chromebooks are activated at school everyday (2015). This may seem insane to some readers, however my own school, California High School, has now even decided to use Chromebooks as a main learning source. Schools have pushed out textbooks and brought in this new, modern style of learning. Although these Chromebooks have made communication and turning in papers easier, it has also came with its fair share of struggles. This means that it has access to tons of online sites and content, however, it is not a fulling operating desktop (Garrett, 2017). Chromebooks popularity has risen over the year due to its price. Compared to its competitors like the MacBook, this laptop is a steal. The Chromebook is also known to be lightweight and easy accessible so many schools look to it as a valuable product (Wylie, 2017). Although these devices seem to be cost efficient and a good device to use in schools, they also carry many problems. First off, many chromebooks experience glitches because of previous damages. I believe that it would be in the best interest of the school to provide hard back cases for all students chromebooks. I also believe that it should be mandatory for students to use those cases. This would save the students and school money on Chromebook repairs. I believe that the school should also unblock certain sites that are beneficial to students, such as wikipedia and certain music sites. With this sites unblocked, students could use their chromebooks to their full potentials. Eye problems and carpal tunnel could also be solved by not using chromebooks for every case. By using chromebooks in only a few classes and for designated assignments, wrist pain and eye strains could be restrained. Many students experience screen glitches on a daily basis. This problem can only be fixed by the students themselves. However, the school should provide proper equipment and training sessions for students on how to properly store and use Chromebooks. Chromebook damages cause the school to spend more time fixing them; They also require money to fix them in some cases. This could be prevented by not allowing students to take them home. Classes should begin using paper again as the first source, however, if needed then a Chromebook should be used. Relying on a electronic has caused more problems than expected. These
