IDEA OR PRACTICE BEING USED: The district worked collaboratively with teachers to develop personalized learning for all educators to help with using new technology in their classroom. Educators were given an opportunity to teach learning sessions about something they feel they do well or choose learning sessions relevant to where they were with the ease of using technology using the SAMR model. Teachers could also create a TEPS project that involves exploring an educational project that can improve the classroom, and they earn graduate hours. Yet moving forward we still have many individuals who are taking action in shaping the world of tomorrow. Our current generation of students has an all new set of issues to face and educators across the board need to develop strategies to best serve the current population. Access to information and connections to other people has never been easier through the use of technology yet this is also creating a gap in making real connections. The current landscape is riddled with roadblocks to promoting the use of education to help solve significant social problems and incorporating lessons in virtues while properly preparing for students to become upstanding citizens.

As I walked to class one Monday morning, I noticed something out of the ordinary. I saw my peers (the people I go to school with) on their phones constantly. Even when I was at the library preparing for my math exam—everyone that was on the computer, or in a study hall, had some sort of digital device in their hands. Yes, of course, I had my cell phone that day---just in case of a family emergency, but my intentions were not solely to use my cell phone every single minute; it was to be in a collective setting, where I can have a piece of mind and focus on my school work. Whenever we are connected to a digital device, we tend to get distracted by it.
Teen’s parents might need to overcome their own blind vision. More than 75 percent of parents responding to the survey say that cellphone cheating happens at their children's school, but only 3 percent believe their own teen is using a cellphone to cheat. But even as teens advance their electronic cheating strategies, educators are beginning to fight back with their own anti cheating technologies, such as text-matching software, plagiarism checker, virtual students, and cheat proof tests, experts say. “Experts also say that if teachers hold open discussions, issue warnings, and present guidelines for taking tests and writing papers, kids will be more hesitant about cheating.” This explain, the more teachers and school staff tells students not to use, that curious students try to use phones.
No matter where I’ve served it has been very important to me to be part of a group of people committed to the audacious dream of making learning more accessible and supporting leaners, their teachers, and families. The technological revolution that fostered connectivity between individuals can and should connect learning communities, parents, and students. Gina said that the school has tried to ban the use of cellphones in school but it has lead to some problems like parents complaining saying that they need to be able to contact their children whenever they can. So the argument can go both ways. Another distraction is laptops and ipads. Students tend to pretend that they are using them for classwork or homework but are really just watching netflix or doing something unrelated to school. When Gina was in high school, none of this was relevant.
This is likely because technological resources within schools have been discovered to be underused or even unused completely. Clearly, technology is not the solution
Amongst schools throughout the nation, the cell phone policy has been tested and altered to fit the restrictions on their use by students. The different advancements in technology have influenced many teachers and staff to allow leniency to cell phone use in the classroom, with the belief that they have purpose to assist in everyday learning. Others believe they have no place being on school property during school hours since loss, theft, or damage is possible. In addition, cellphones can be a distraction in classrooms which factors in faculty deciding what is to be done about cellular devices on the campus. The use of cell phones should not be in schools because of the amount of distraction it poses on kids, cheating that becomes easier in classrooms because of them, and the safety concerns it raises.
Of course, the teacher does not have total control over each student, there are means by which an instructor can yield the results she/he is looking for. Although our authors both bring up strong points about the use of cell phones in classrooms, they sometimes overstated the degree to which they are disruptive. The authors also give a good idea as to how the reduction of cell phone use would help classrooms become better learning environments with more respect for instructors and peers and how one’s grades have the possibility of improving once their cell phones have been put away. If purely stating these ideas to students would not help the students use their phones less, then incentives or penalizations can be offered by the instructor to make such a problem
Sixty five percent of students sneak their phones in school, and are distracted by it.” This means that other students are losing focus while trying to learn. Teachers also have a hard time teaching when a cell phone is constantly interrupting the class. The effect of this are students and teachers will not be able to continue on working lesson plans. The Results of this is kids falling behind on subjects and performing worse than schools who ban phones.
Sue Honoré, an independent learning consultant who has studied people who were born from 1982 to 2002 has that “while young people are "undoubtedly capable of long periods of concentration", those who spend a lot of time alone using technology tend to have less in the way of communication skills, self-awareness and emotional intelligence”. It has been proven that around 31 nations that students who used computers everyday in class had lower test scores in reading and math than students who don’t use them as much (Study: Students Who Use in School Doesn’t Help Test Scores). Though technology is amazing and has given so many people different opportunities they would’ve never had before it is resulting in a few bad habits for students. Casey Schools systems around the United States have begun to rely on technology to teach their students instead of teachers to teach them. According Michael Godsey, a veteran high-school English educator, even said and agreed with many people today that we are at the point in time where since we have the internet at our fingertips, there is really no need for teachers
Teachers don't want kids’ texting in class when they're trying to teach them important things. We should not bring cell phones in class because it can affect to their listening skills, first, it destruct students from the lessons, the students will keep texting and texting because the students is addicting of cell phones and they will never understand what is the lesson about. Second, the students could cheat on test; we all know that our society is more in high technology. There is Wi-Fi’s everywhere and also there are pocket Wi-Fi’s, broad bands, and load data’s that can use in surfing the net. So, if they take the test they can use their cell phones and cheat on the test.

It is crucial to meet the challenges that confront us. We need to ensure that highly skilled and effective educators are at their peak.
