Gina Brodsky's Use Of Cell Phones In High School

Many people say that high school is the best days of their lives, and even with the changes over generations, this still may be true. Gina Brodsky, a York High School graduate in the class of 1992 with only 104 kids in her class agrees, and would go back to her high school days any day! Gina liked high school so much that she now works at York High school. Since she works at the high school, she gets to compare her high school days to this generation's high school days. Something that she tends to see a lot of, is change, good and bad.

One change is the school rules. Gina believes that teachers back in her high school days were less restricted. Teachers used to be able to make fun lesson plans without worrying about if it was 100% related to the curriculum. This made students excited about school instead of …show more content…

When Gina was in school it was very rare for people to have a cell phone. Even if they did no one really brought theirs to school. Even when Gina got a cell phone she shared it with Mia and didn't think much of it. But nowadays everyone has a cell phone and it is more of a problem than not. People use it to cheat, to text people and even to play games on. Gina said that the school has tried to ban the use of cellphones in school but it has lead to some problems like parents complaining saying that they need to be able to contact their children whenever they can. So the argument can go both ways. Another distraction is laptops and ipads. Students tend to pretend that they are using them for classwork or homework but are really just watching netflix or doing something unrelated to school. When Gina was in high school, none of this was relevant. It isn't all that bad though. The technology advance makes some things easier too. It helps students pass in their work even if they aren't in school, and it also makes a place where students can contact their teachers easily like
