The “traditional calendar” has been used by schools for many years; maybe, it is time for change. Whether schools in Florida should switch to a year-round calendar has been a debate of increasing interest by students, and counties across Florida. Schools in Florida should switch to a year-round calendar, because it decreases student, and teacher burnout, and the amount of time spent reviewing. Although the traditional calendar allows for easier scheduling of extracurricular activities, the increased review time, burnout, and lost knowledge just isn’t worth it. That is why schools in Florida should switch to year-round school.

Under the year-round calendar, it may be more difficult to schedule activities such as sports, or band, due to the constant schooling, and frequent breaks. According to the National Education Association, “... extracurricular activities, like sports and band, may be more difficult under the year-round schedule” (Text 2,2). This text states that scheduling may be difficult for some activities under the year-round calendar; however, that may not always be the case. Schedules for sporting events, band, and other activities could easily be fit under the year-round schedule, because there are still weekends, and frequent breaks that activities could be fit under the year-round schedule, because there are still weekends, and frequent breaks that activities could be fit under.
