Having a schedule is really important in life. So why change your schedule to something you're not used to? Year-round school is something that we are not. In fact it would change the amount of money Stafford County would spend, experiences that we have in the Summer, and schedule coordinating could be complicated.
Year-round schooling deprives students and adults of different and valuable learning experiences. A Virginia Tech article stated a survey conducted by Columbia Academy, that 85 percent of families that responded had a major vacation before year-round schooling while only 40 percent had a major vacation after year-round schooling. Most families take vacation time during the long summer break because most families don’t have school in the Summer so that is when events are scheduled. A Hanover article stated the price of year-round schools would increase by three percent from the traditional method. An article from InsideNova about Stafford County, states that Stafford County is going to pay $278.9 million for schools in 2018. With 3 percent added on to that, the total would be 287.267 million dollars, Not including transportation or food. According to a Virginia Joint Legislative Audit & Review Commission report which conducts policy analysis and program evaluation, states that the Hampton City school district transportation costs ranged from $15,582 to $43,381. This shows transportation alone is a factor in cost. According to a book called The School Calendar edited by Charles Ballinger and Carolyn Kneese, said the average cost of food annually per student is $336. The number of students that go to school in Stafford county is 27,573. An estimated ⅔ of that eat at school which would be 18,382. The amount of money annually spent for food would be $6,176,352. The amount of money for resources is not worth going to school year
