The issue of religious freedom is yet to be achieved with non-Muslims being the minority and discriminated against. This is what differentiate Iran from the United States where we have freedom of religion. Arts and literature is also a big part of the Iranian culture. Architecture always has elaborated tiles and carved plaster ornamentation on walls and ceiling. Decorations of floral or geometrical elements are heavily used in all Iranian arts and crafts. The culture also ranges from family to business and custom etiquettes. Family is the basis of social structure in Iran. The concept of family is more private compared to other cultures. Female relatives must be protected from outside influences and must be taken care of at all time. Elderly relatives are mainly kept at home, rather than living in nursing homes.
