Genesis is the first book of God’s Word. It covers some of the most beloved bible stories from the beginning with Adam and Eve, and onto Abraham. Within the book of Genesis, specifically chapter one, we are shown as Christians the immense creativity and love that the
Heavenly Father has for us. The book opens with the famous words, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Today we will dissect chapter one of Genesis to dig deeper into His creation. The beginning of the heavens and the earth is a lot to comprehend for the human mind. It was a time of unknown, where there was only God and vast voidness. The verses continue on to reveal the account of creation, explaining the truth behind God’s plans and efforts to bring forth the world and all things surrounding it. By the time we reach verse three of Genesis, the author transitions into describing the first day of creation. Genesis 1:3 starts out with the phrase “God said…” This phrase is repeated constantly during Genesis, chapter one. It is important to note that we read each day of creation assuming that it is a 24 hour day. However, God has His own sense of timing and it is unsure how long creation actually could have taken. On the first day of creation, God divided the light from the darkness. Then as we move onto the second day, we see that God separated the clouds and water in an expanse. In verse six it states, “And God said, ‘Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.’ 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it.
