Phillip Melanchthon was Martin Luther’s best friend and wrote a book that was so good Luther thought it should be put in the Bible. Don’t go looking for it in the Bible because it was of course not added. Melanchthon wrote many other books and got a lot of recognition for his work. Melanchthon also helped Luther with his famous 95 theses which changed the Christian Faith. He also lived in the same town of Wittenberg as Luther. I think that you will find Melanchthon’s life and writing very interesting. Melanchthon wrote one book called Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope which is the seventh part of The Book of Concord which is basically a bunch of Lutheran beliefs (#1). He also wrote The Augsburg Confession which was explained some of the fundamental beliefs and doctrines of the Lutherans (#1). These beliefs were later explained in more detail in The Apology of the Augsburg Confession (#1). Perhaps the most famous of Melanchthon’s works was the Loci Communes, it explained the Protestant theology (#1,2,3). This is the book which Luther thought should be part of the Bible (#3). In 1519, he became a Bachelor of Theology (#2). Later he wrote the Loci Communes, and by 1525 there were 18 editions of it (#1,2,3). In 1520, he married Katherine Krapp. He also wrote books worth of notes on different Bible books
