Dedication, described as having devotion to a task. Without it, no one would get anything done. Three characters in The Chosen, a book written by Chaim Potok, exemplify dedication. Reb Saunders, Mr. Galanter, and Mr. Malter display outstanding dedication with what they do. In the words of Jessie Owens, “We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” Reb Saunders, Mr. Galanter, and Mr. Malter live that out extremely effectively.

Galanter exerts a great deal of effort into the baseball team. He regularly showcases a cheerful disposition, and he shows great care when it comes to his players. “You want to go on pitching?' Mr. Galanter said. A thin sheen of sweat covered his forehead and he looked very grim. (1) This passage comes right after his pitcher almost got hit by a baseball and got shook up. So as exhibited in the passage, he displays great concern for the safety of his team. He also shows that he dedicates a considerable amount of effort to the success of the team. Therefore, the main concept that people should learn from Mr. Galanter would be that taking care of people should always have the highest priority.

Mr Malter displays himself as a dedicated father throughout the book. Without a doubt, he cares for Reuven very immensely, especially when it comes to his health. He showcases this when making sure Reuven does not harm his eye.“We will ask Dr. Snydmann when you leave the hospital. But no reading now.” (2) He continues to prompt Reuven not to read until he is formally allowed to.
