The Civil Rights Movement was a very influential movement that took place mainly in the 1950’s to 1960’s. This was where the Blacks wanted freedom from the white supremacy that was going on at the time. They wanted the right to live side by side with there white brothers and sisters. They wanted the segregation to stop and the discrimination to end. They wanted laws put in place to stop segregation in schools and other public places. They eventually gained these rights but not without a fight, they fought for a decade before there needs and wants were finally met to some degree. The LGBQT+ Movement of 1990’s and the ongoing fight for equality that they are having. This movement was all about bringing the focus on how the LGBT community was here and they weren’t going to go anywhere nor were they going to change to fit the previous ideals of society. They wanted to be able to marry their partners no matter what sexuality they were. They fought for their rights for so long but after 25 years they finally were able to achieve this one major goal. As of 2015 if you are a part of the LGBT community you are able to marry your partner. But, this doesn’t mean that their fight was over for either of the movements.
