Dreams can either consist of what someone wants to happen or what they wish won’t happen at least that’s what Freud is stating. In Joan Seaman and Tom Philbin’s book “The New American Dream Dictionary: The Complete Language of Dreams in Easy-To-Understand Form", they touch upon what Carl Jung believes dreams mean. When he states “for Jung, dreams symbolize more…they reveal many other aspects of the dreamer’s search for meaning.(43)” Jung a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who has also done research in the field of dreams like Freud has similar thought on Freud’s point which gives way to a strong support by Jung . Another point that both of these men agree with is that dreams tend to clear up the mind unwinding the knots that have been developed in our heads. It’s like using the old saying “I’ll sleep on it” it’s hard to say that someone has never done that or heard of someone doing it. Freud ability to have good use of logic and have the reader relate to the topic makes it hard to disagree with his point. Having the reader relate to the statement being said is a job well done by Freud but he makes his claim even stronger when he is supported by someone that is credible and an expert in this field like Jung. It’s fair to say that Freud’s theory that dreams hold ones true desires is more agreeable due to the reader’s ability to relate to the topic and having some like Jung back him
