Is It Okay For Employers To Monitor Their Employees There has been much controversy over if employers and managers should be able to monitor their employees or not. Some people say that it is not okay because it is an invasion of privacy, but others say that it is okay because employers need to be able to monitor what their workers are doing. Some people think that employee monitoring should be allowed and some do not. Here are some of the main reasons why people think that employee monitoring should or should not be allowed on employee computers and in employee work stations. Employee monitoring can cause the employee to not feel as though they can trust their employer or manager because they employer is constantly watching what the employee is doing. It can also make the employee feel less motivated. If an employee is constantly being monitored, they might only feel the need to do the bare minimum in their workplace. Also, some personal privacy issues can be involved when it comes to monitoring and employee and their workplace. It can even cost the company more money to monitor their employees. Certain technology is needed to monitor employees, and this technology can be costly. There would also have to be staff to watch the employees, and that can cost the company more money to find staff to monitor employees. There even have to be people to watch the people watching the employees to make sure that no fraud or lying is being done in the line of employee monitoring. There might be certain people whose job is to monitor the employees, but instead of doing so they may lie and say that an employee is doing something they really were not
