Opponents may say that books should be banned. However,the reality is that they should not be banned. The reason being is because it can be a violation of the First Amendment, it can limit a persons education, and banning books can also restrict ideas. In an article by Morgan Gilbard titled “What you need to know about the book bans sweeping the U.S” it states “discretion must be exercised in a manner thatabides with the transcendent imperatives of the first amendment.” It also states “The first amendment hinges on the existence of evidence that books are banned for political reasons and violate freedom of expression.” This evidence demonstrates that banning books can violate the first amendment because it takes away the freedom/ability of being able to read what you want to read.
