"YouTube Censorship In the last year, there has been a huge controversy over YouTube censorship. This has greatly affected the people that solely make their money from producing videos on YouTube and it has also greatly affected the content that they are producing for their viewers. The way that YouTube works is that they will make a contract with a YouTuber once they have accumulated a big following and they will put advertisements on their videos, and the profit is split between the content producer and YouTube, but if YouTube doesn_Ñét agree with the content that they are putting out, they will demonetize the video and no ads will be put on the video, thus no money is gained from that video, but what content qualifies for demonetizing? …show more content…

YouTube_Ñés guidelines state that videos with the following things are not suitable with advertisers: Controversial issues and sensitive events, drugs and dangerous products or substances, harmful or dangerous acts, hateful content, inappropriate language, inappropriate use of family entertainment characters, incendiary and demeaning content, sexually suggestive content, and violence. YouTube has the right to censor this kind of content. They are a private owned company and if they want only family-friendly content on their site, they have the right to do that. They have the right to demonetize videos and remove videos that do not fit their guidelines, but one issue that emerged recently was a video that a famous YouTuber made that clearly went against YouTube_Ñés guidelines, but was left on his channel until the YouTuber himself deleted it and it was also put #1 on YouTube_Ñés feature page. A famous YouTuber, Jenna Marbles, and her boyfriend, Julien Solomita, discussed the issue on one of their podcast titled _ÑÒLogan Paul._Ñù They began with discussing the situation itself and then went into YouTube_Ñés part in the whole situation. Julien said that he did not understand how the video was kept up by YouTube given the fact that YouTube has been really cracking down on the content that has been posted to their site in the last year and a half.
