On Tuesday October 20 at 6 pm in the Ballroom the Courageous Conversations: presented the discussing of racism at Georgia Southern University. Their goal of the program was to hope you share your point of view on racism and learn from others point of view. The main speaker or running the program was two professors one black female and the other a white male. The black female was Dr. Hazel that taught here at Georgia Southern last year now she teaches in Dubai were she stated,” I have yet to find any hint of racism.” The white male was a professor that still teaches here was given his prospect and his outlook on the situation. They stated we are all racist almost every single day in America. We started with an exercise that tried to loosen up everybody before the discussion by taking a selfie with someone you would not take one with. During the discussion you had to be aware and pay very close attention because the speakers may bring you the microphone for your opinion on the question at hand. The first video we watched were the question was “what is white culture” and they asked different students in the Russell Union randomly. The irony of the video the majority of the white students asked in the video about what is white culture they could not give a definite answer but the majority of the black students could. Then, after watching the video she asked the crowd the same question once again majority of the white did not want to answer of give an answer. However, the black students gave their opinions and that you could see frowns upon faces. The second video asked the question “what is black culture” and same reaction but all the black students answered the question. When asking the crowd you could see some many black students’ hand rise up. One particular response stood out to me was a white male student which was, “when I see black culture I see sports , music, fashion, movies, creativity but I also see thugs, pant sagging, rude selfish
