Character is the thing that defines a person. What you will do, what you will say, how you interact with the world. Admittedly, all of us have character. But, the character of Christopher is a very interesting and a complex one. In times, it feels as if he is an alien compared to everyone else.
I really enjoyed reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time because it is a story that doesn’t often get told. For the most part, we know surface level details about special needs individuals, they attend the same schools as us, they work among us, but in many ways their world is completely separate from our own reality, and more often than not is a silent one. The Curious Incident provides a different outlook on these individuals, it forces the audience to feel, and empathize with Christopher rather than detach ourselves through facts and information. Not only was the play in some ways ground breaking, but there was also good humor and also made Christopher’s story have normalcy to it as well. I believe that sometimes we tend
One theme is continually shown throughout The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time: becoming independent and growing up. However, Christopher wants to be independents and he shows his longing for that through his actions and words. He even has dreams of living alone, with no parental figures helping him out. Through dialect and thoughts in the novel, I could also see that Christopher was trying to set himself up for a life without his father by taking his A-Levels, which will allow him to get into college, where he wants to live alone.
