In many dystopian novels, propaganda is used to control the citizens. It is also used to influence the opinions of many. In the book, 1984, propaganda is used in many ways. It controls, confuses, and manipulates citizens in Oceania. “Propaganda on every corner warning the people that the government is watching them always. The government exerts control over them this way by using propaganda to instill fear of doing or saying anything against the government because they will find out about it” (Weebly).
