According to the National Institutes of Health about two thirds of Americans are overweight. Over weight is considered having a body mass index of 25 or higher. Obesity has become a major issue in the United States. In this paper I will go over ways the author has presented to improve ones’ diet. Examples would include learning to break bad habits, learning to deal with food addictions, and learning to consume the right foods. I will also go over how obesity and diet have affected my life.

I also really enjoyed the fact that the author lists sample menus at the end of the book.
Food Addiction
Food addiction has become a big problem in today’s society. According to Fuhrman he states “I believe that 60 to 80 of the population suffer from food addiction”. (p.20) Fuhrman compares the food addict to a smoker. He states “The smoker lights up a cigarette, for instance, and the food addict opens a bag of potato chips”. (p.21) I would have to agree Fuhrman’s statements. I do not believe I am a food addict. However, I do feel that certain foods can be addictive. One item I feel is very addictive would be soda. The caffeine in the drink makes the item even more addictive.
