The authors choice to control some of Africas colonies clearly shows a commitment to form a better Germany based on the intention of trying to eliminate Germany's financial crisis. Someone also hopeful of Africa bringing better advancements for their country was Joseph Chamberlain, a British industrialist. (doc 3) Chamberlain spoke of the situation as a hope for a better tomorrow. The British population would rise and rise again until as a nation they would begin to starve.
This is all based on document A “ Partition of Africa, 1884-85”. The first point is that there were seven European countries taking parts of Africa and they were the British, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Belgian, and the Spanish. These countries all took a part in this “taking” of Africa. And it was very dangerous for the African community because they were being taking over as if they were a useless community . But the two main countries of this “taking” were the British and French, and they both took about 70-75% of Africa and that is a ginormous number.
Geoff and Janet Benge wrote Rowland Bingham: Into Africa’s interior. It tells the true story of the missionary Rowland Bingham, and how he spread the gospel through Africa, and ultimately the world. In fact, by the time of his death in 1942, there was not a single region on earth that his faith had not touched. Through Rowland’s life, the readers can learn that God always provides and that it is important to persevere through hard times.
Africa was a giant magnificent cake. Many countries scrambled to cut into it and claim their own pieces of it as if it was theirs for the taking. The last unconquered piece of land was up for grabs which evoked top nations into sending explorers to claim the land for them. Africa during the rule of King Leopold II had many unexplored areas included his newly acquired land the Congo. The King’s charm, altered treaties, and a money hungry drive have all lead to the underlying problem of exploitation of the natives.
Africa desired in remaining a free and independent nation, as individuals believed that Ethiopia was protected by God. For example, Menelik II, the emperor of Ethiopia, who wrote a letter to Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Russia in 1891, stated, “I do not think for a moment that He will divide Ethiopia among the distant Powers… Without our use of force and without the aid of the Christians, our boundary on the sea fell into the hands of the Muslims.” (Document 3). Here, one is able to identify that Menelik is demonstrating to the other foreign nations, that he will not enable them to continuously conquer portions of Africa, without taking further actions as they possess the support of God.

In Africa during the Post-Classical era, 600-1450 CE, the Saharan was no longer a barren wasteland hardly suitable for travel, but, an essential part of both North African and Sub-Saharan West African societies. Camels and caravans allowed for quicker and more effective traveling. With trading becoming increasingly popular in this area, it provided the resources to build new and larger political structures. During this era, Africa’s economy began to change and the western part of Sub-Saharan was no different. With the Trans-Saharan trade routes ability to increase with the help of wealthier Islamic states, it allowed for the spread of religious and political ideas such as larger empires and the Islamic faith in which both greatly influenced
In History of Africa, Shillington focuses on many aspects of African culture and factors that made Africa to be the continent that it is today. Chapter 5 primarily focuses on the Northern region of Africa and how empires took over and spread their ideology technology, and culture all through out the region. Even today some remnants of the Roman and Greek empire live on to this day (Shillington, 69.) Despite many people getting the impression that Northern Africa is only influenced by Arabic and Islam, these empires and their conquests are best understood through topics like intricate trading routes, farming, and the spread of religion. Shillington provides an in depth analysis of how many of these conquests affected Northern Africa centuries ago and today.
The Food and Drug Administration is the oldest “consumer protection agency in the federal government”. The purpose of the FDA is to protect consumers by assuring that all food supplies,medical devices,cosmetics,human and veterinary drugs,and products that emit radiation are safe and secure for our use. Although the official label for the FDA was not created until the 1930’s it’s beginnings can date all the way back to the year of 1848. It all started with a man named Lewis Beck.
Although African reaction to the presence of external actors could, in some cases, be appropriately described as defiant, resistance did not exclusively define African attitudes toward the outside. The capacity and willingness to collaborate with European influences lends credence to the re-interpretation of Africa as an entity with agency, just as European states have typically been understood. African political units were just like other political entities throughout history in that they employed strategies according to their domestic and foreign policy interests. Following elementary diplomatic logic, African political units would collaborate with European powers where it was conducive to their interests and goals.
People who share a common history should create an independent nation. In Cecil Rhodes “Confession of Faith,” the imperialist author his views and preferences on nationalism. During this time period, Africa was in a state where it could be taken over by Britain, due to the lack of a strong government. Rhodes envisions this opportunity “to seize every opportunity of acquiring more territory.” This act is the result of imperialism, but not nationalism.
During the period of imperialism in Africa all of the countries were competing for the title of being the richest and the strongest. In fact, the whole scramble for Africa was an opportunity for countries to enhance their overall economy. For example, King Leopold II of Belgium was determined to get the area of land so he can become more wealthy. France’s politicians thought that an overseas company would strengthen the country when it came to wealth, prestige, and power, so as a result they invested in land more toward the west and north-west. Britain wanted to protect their trading routes which required them to purchase land in East Africa, and they they soon discovered the rewards of the land so the were determined to obtain as much as possible.
Africa before 1500 ce was a time where many events happened that changed the civilization of Africa forever. Africa invented trades, cultures, traditions, and so many other things that affected Africa in many ways. There is a huge timeline that explains all the events that happen in Africa, what year they happen, and why they happen in the first place. Africa along with other certain continents had major events happened before 1500 ce. Since I chose Africa I will be explaining what was Africa before 1500 ce.

To begin with, the origin of the name Africa in itself has drawn a number of controversies that stem from the different perspectives through which the name has been examined.
