Gabe DeLong In the book The French Bulldog Handbook by Linda Whitwam it discusses the history, biology, and buying a french bulldog. This handbook describes the large history and struggle to get the breed where it is today and the competition between the North American and European standards of what the breed should be. It goes through how the dog will act and common problems that you should be aware of before purchasing it.
The history of the french bulldog is very rich particularly in the history of its predecessors the bulldog. Many people do not know but the original bulldog is originated from a Mastiff specifically the Alaunt a war dog and protector. While the other things in the novel talk about breed standard differences by country, basics such as temperament level and information to know when purchasing a french bulldog. The information provided I would not say is 100% accurate as it states how much you should feed the dog but clearly the dog will eat as much as the size or height of the dog is. It also talks about allergies and basics of getting a pet for the first time time such as how to train basic commands and exercise. The book in itself is good if you are seriously thinking about getting a bulldog and if you can't read these book you're probably not actually serious enough about the breed to go through all the health problems as there is a lot. Actually 148-201 is all about health issues which means that there is some looking into the breed to do before purchase. My only fear is that someone would read the beginning which just posses small problems and positives before going to the rich history. It may make people who are not seriously interested convinced about the breed who do not really understand the immense problems that they can
