In “The Game of Catch” written by Richard Wilbur, the author introduces us to three main characters. One of the characters Monk, was described as a short tempered and rude baseball player. The next character we are introduced to is Glennie. Glennie is described as a kind patent kid. Last but not least is Scho, Scho is described as a pushy kid who enjoys annoying the other characters. In the beginning of the story, Monk and Glennie were playing catch on the side lawn of the firehouse. Glennie notices Scho on the other side of the street and kindly asks him to join their game of catch. While Glennie seems fine with Scho joining their game, Monk on the other hand does not. Even though Scho says “you could give me easy grounders, but don’t burn them.”(paragraph 4 first page) Monk decides to begins to mess with Scho by throwing the ground balls to Scho to fast. While Monk and Glennie are throwing, Scho tries a number of times to get their attention. When that fails he tries a different approach. Scho announces “ that I can make you two guys do anything I want.” (Wilbur 2) While it doesn’t seem to bother Glennie, Monk quickly became irritated.
