In the short story, The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, the author is commenting on war in a way in which people will change and be violent to protect themselves and others, even though they understand the pain of being hunted. Rainsford, a boy who washed up on the shore of the forbidden island, was hunted by General Zaroff, a general who got disinterested in hunting animals, so he created a new game in which hunted people instead. Unfortunately, Rainsford’s arrival provided General Zaroff with new prey. Rainsford understood what it was like to be hunted by General Zaroff, but in the end, he still hunted and killed Zaroff for his own, and others to later be trapped on the island’s survival.
