Throughout the novel, Jonas opened many peoples eyes on what the rest of the world had to offer. Lois Lowry wrote this wonderful novel about a boy standing up for what he believes in no matter the risk. Jonas’ experiences developed a theme over the course of The Giver by teaching the readers that perfection does not exist, except for in the eye of the beholder. After receiving numerous memories, Jonas realized that the community was keeping most of the world from the citizens. Towards the beginning of the novel, Jonas was starting to receive new, wonderful memories.
