Jonas and Luath have many similarities and differences. Luath is a young Labrador retriever that is also a natural leader. Jonas is a young boy who lives in a community without emotion. He is different from everyone else where he lives because he doesn’t accept the way things are and questions everything. Luath from “The Incredible Journey” and Jonas from “The Giver” have similarities and differences. Both Luath and Jonas are alike in a few ways. For example, Luath and Jonas are very devoted to their jobs. Luath is a hunting dog so he does what he knows to do when he hears a gun. “The sound of a shot and the splash of a duck had had the same effect on the labrador as a trumpet call to an old war horse, and drew him in irresistibly.” Every day Jonas has to do his job. He knows that it will probably include pain but he goes anyway because he knows it is the right thing to do. In addition, Luath and Jonas are both leaders. For example, in “The Incredible Journey”, Luath is trying to find his way back to his community and in “The Giver” Jonas is traveling away from his community. Luath's owners left him and two other pets with a friend and away from their own home. They leave the place they are supposed to be staying and journey towards their real home. Jonas starts out in his community, then realizes that isn’t actually where he belongs and travels away from his family and friends instead of going towards them. In addition, on Luath's journey he travels with two other companions and Jonas only has one. Luath travels alongside the two other pets that are trying to get back home. Jonas has Gabrial, his only traveling companion. Gabriel is an infant that Jonas had taken in order for the baby to stay alive. Luath and Jonas have many
