The Great Gatsby Have you ever wondered why Gatsby decided to come back and find Daisy? In the book, The Great Gatsby, written by Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby pursues to find his ex-lover Daisy by buying a house and throwing massive parties across the bay hoping she would wander into his party sometime. Gatsby has a true love for Daisy and he is very eager to find her so he uses Nick as a way to reel her into his hands. The main character Nick is seen throughout the novel as a bystander and Gatsby’s new good friend.
In chapters 1-10 Petey becomes frustrated with the institution because everyone keeps leaving him. For example Joe, Esteban, and the mice all left him. How I know that those kinda things made petey mad was that on page 86 the narrator says “Joe’s departure devastated Petey and Calvin. That shows that when someone leaves Petey is sad. In chapters 1-10 you can conclude that when people Petey cares about leave he is sad.
In chapter two of How To Read like Professor, Foster explains to readers that act of communion can be any time people decide to eat or drink together. He continues on to explain some concepts such as that eating is so uninteresting that there has to be some reason authors write about it, that acts of communion only happen with people you're comfortable with, and that there maybe an underlying emotion or message hidden in these meals. All of these ideas can be found in chapter 7 of The Great Gatsby where Tom Buchanan invites everyone over for lunch; things escalate while sipping wine and waiting for the food. Nick, Nick was supposed to say that he knew nothing about the plan and also he was supposed to say that Gatsby never spoke of anything like this. So Gatsby gets ready to head to Tom and Daisy. Gatsby heads to his car to go to Tom and Daisy and then when Gatsby looks over to his left he sees a gun pointed to him and he sees that it is Tom that is holding the Gun with Daisy behind him looking nervous. Gatsby was surprised and then Tom explains to Gatsby that he knew that Nick was inside the house listening to their conversation and Tom did not find Nick for a reason so it seemed like Gatsby had the upper
During the middle of the book, Gatsby invites Daisy to a party with her husband Tom and that holds up a whole fiasco. Tom kind of knew that they were hinting at something because they were looking each other in the eyes and noticing just them and not anyone else (Fitzgerald 75). As they were all huddled at the party Daisy and Gatsby ran off with the help of Nick. So Nick at this point is the leading cause of why Gatsby was killed.
Chapter three Question three Owl-eyes, one of the many party goers of Gatsby’s many parties. Sat in Gatsby’s personal library, enamoured with the books. Continually stating that the books are not just decoys. This is a surprising to the man, because he seems to have the idea that Gatsby is a bit of a fake in a sense; Gatsby has a facade that he puts up for others to see. Additionally, having real books rather than decoys can indicate ‘old’ money, because those with ‘new’ money tend to by flashy, eye catching products that are not actually meant for use but rather to show off the expensiveness.
He then shoots himself with the gun. Nick starts to find and see if Gatsby has any family. Gatsby’s father finds out about the death of his son and comes to New York. Nick has the funeral for
George hunts Gatsby down and shoots him, and then shoots himself. After all this, Nick arranges Gatsby’s funeral, breaks up with Jordan, and moves back out west to escape the
Gatsby tries to rekindle his and Daisy’s old relationship by trying to relive the past while Tom is out having an affair. Nick is a people watcher, he observes anyone and everyone and gets to know them before he feels inclined to make a judgment. To start, Nick reserves judgment in multiple situations but the first example is when he meets Gatsby and is at his party. At the beginning of the book we find out that Gatsby is Nick's next door neighbor and Nick wants to learn more about the mysteries of Gatsby. Gatsby lied about his past by saying it was great while he had to bring himself up. Gatsby left for the war and while he was enlisted he and Daisy sent letters of communication. A conservative is defined as a person who is averse to change and holds to traditional values and attitudes, typically in relation to politics. More directly, it means to conserve the way things are. In this chapter we meet the narrator, Nick, who starts off by sharing some useful beliefs that his father taught him and that he now tries to adhere to. His father taught him to not be judgmental and to reserve his judgments about other people because if he holds others up to his own moral standards, he will misunderstand them. Nick then mentions Gatsby, who represents everything he scorns, yet he says exempts him from his usual judgments; holding true to his father’s beliefs about not judging others. Then we find out that Nick is part of the Caraway Clan, a clan that is wealthy and has lots of class. After graduating from New Haven, Nick moved to the East, to the village of West Egg, Long Island, so he could work in the bond business.
Soon Gatsby and nick became friends that would meet everyday and talk. At one point Gatsby and daisy sneak off without anyone noticing. Soon daisy and the Gatsby fall for each other but her husband tom kind of figured out what was going on between them. After spending a night with that Gatsby they all return home to see that their home has been flipped upside down by gang members looking for cigarettes and money, daisy and tom get worried that maybe they weren't just looking for that so they leave on a “vacation”. Later on the gatsbys brother was killed and his father was trying to figure out where to bury him and Gatsby said up east because that was where they had the best memories.at the funeral there were only a few people who attended.
In this chapter nick is on his way home coming from the city coming back from his date with jordan. And when nick pulls up at his house he walks toward his house and was startled by gatsby in his lawn. It had seemed that gatsby was irritated by something and he invited Nick to go to Coney Island to have some fun with him. And then later come back to gatsby's house and hang out in his pool.
