Eric Gonzalez Ms. Tobias English 3 G/T 4th January 12, 2017 The Great Gatsby Compare and Contrast Essay There are many similarities and differences between The Great Gatsby novel and 2013 movie directed by Baz Lurhmann. The book and film are the same as it is about one man ‘Nick’ who moves to a city and gets trapped in a love twist he had no knowledge of. In the book and film Nick decides to go visit two good friends, one who was his cousin, Daisy, and an old college friend, Tom. He also met a lady, Miss Baker, who at first was a stranger. In the film Nick walks into a beautiful white room with the windows open and white curtains flowing with the wind, and in front of him a couch with two figures, ladies, at first he recognizes the voice of the first lady who is his cousin Daisy and greets her. Then he sees a lady, at first she doesn’t pay any attention to him until after he apologizes. In the book Nick says ‘We walked through a high hallway into a bright rosy colored space, fragilely bound by french windows at either end.’ ‘A breeze blew through the room , blew curtains in at one end and out the other like pale flags, twisting them up toward the frosted wedding-cake of the ceiling…’ ‘The only completely stationary object in the room was an enormous …show more content…

In the film Tom keeps talking and trying to understand Gatsby, so he ticks off Gatsby and Gatsby pushes over Tom and raises his fist but stops himself in front of Daisy. He apologizes and fixes himself; and in the book he just had a facial expression instead of something happening ‘Then i turned back to Gatsby-and was startled at his expression.
