Gatsby’s Love for Daisy Although the audience may find Gatsby’s actions toward Daisy obsessive, in fact, it is a sign of one who is so passionately in love, because, after years of Daisy being married to Tom, Gatsby would continuously do all acts in hopes of her noticing, he was loyal and was never with another woman, also he is constantly trying to recreate the past to be with Daisy. Gatsby is so infatuated that he takes his wealth and puts it to extreme use to throw grand parties and buy the nicest of things. He does all of this in the hope that Daisy notices his lifestyle and wants to share it with him. He even bought a house across the bay to have a view of Daisy’s house. This explains the extreme extent to which Gatsby loves Daisy by buying a mansion in exchange for a view of her house. Gatsby remained loyal and committed to Daisy, even after years of Daisy being with Tom. Gatsby has only ever been focused on Daisy. Therefore, he has lavish parties just in an attempt to get Daisy’s attention. Gatsby is so dedicated to Daisy that he refuses to pursue any type of romantic relationship. Gatsby only dreams of being with Daisy, so he does not even attempt to be with another woman. The author explains, “He knew that when he kissed this girl and forever wed his unutterable visions to her perishable breath, his mind would never romp again like the mind of God” (Fitzgerald 110). The audience could view this quote of commitment to Daisy, showing how strong Gatsby’s love is for her. Some could also agree it shows the impact a love like this can have on one's life. Gatsby can not move on from Daisy, so he is constantly trying to recreate past events.
