The hero’s journey in The Hunger Games and The Goonies have a number of similarities and differences when ranging how the hero’s journey can be adapted and changed. The Call to adventure, The Reward, and The ordinary world in both these stories can be interchangeable and can be adapted. In the Reward part it also has some differences and similarities throughout the part with a big difference. In The Hunger Games, Katniss had to work very very hard for a very long time to win The Hunger games. She had to find food, fight and kill 7 people, form alliances and ultimately, win. However, in The Goonies, they had only found the treasure by accident. Most of The Goonies involves running and some thinking. Sure, they were risking their lives, but they didn’t have to survive 21 other people actively trying to kill them. And in the end, they got to save their homes just because someone found treasure in the marble bag. It was a test, but not a hard one. However there is at least one similarity. They get to keep their reward for their lives. In The Hunger Games, after Katniss wins, she will have infinite food and water until she dies. And she will be treated like a king. In the goonies, they get to keep their homes for forever, because likely the treasure they got is enough to let them keep their homes until they die. Even though …show more content…

In the Hunger Games, Katniss had only a very short time to decide whether or not to volunteer because of her sister. It was very hard because there were a bunch of things that could go wrong whether or not she volunteered. However in The Goonies as soon as they found the treasure, they had a choice and they could choose whether or not to go and find the treasure and save their homes.
