To begin with, the two families were in a feud. The grudge between the two families made Romeo and Juliet want to hide their love to prevent any further damage to the broken relationship. It was clear that because of the feud, both families would not approve of the bond between the two children. Romeo and Juliet can also be seen as irresponsible because of the way they executed keeping there marriage a secret. Juliet requests to Friar Lawrence for help exclaiming that she will kill herself if she cannot be with Romeo. Given the fact that Romeo and Juliet were separated, keeping there secret marriage under the radar was deemed as an impossible task.
Romeo and Juliet got married but, didn’t tell anyone. This secret lead to a fight between Juliet and her father, lord Capulet. Juliet family thought she was a single girl and told her she must marry a young man called Paris. She fought with her parents about marrying Paris but never told them that she was already married. This scene deals with dramatic irony because not all the characters on stage knew the secret.
