In the Time of the Butterflies is a historical fiction novel written by Julia Alvarez. The book focuses on the lives of the four Mirabal sisters who were killed on November 25th, 1960 as a result of organizing against the government. Throughout the novel, the sisters are oppressed and hurt by the many men in their lives. The book takes a view that is not very tolerant of men. The men often do things that hurt the women in their lives, such as physically hurt them, cheat on them, or control them against their will.
However, certain refugees seek asylum in more wealthy countries where they could possibly build a future. Denmark being one of the most prospering countries in Europe, this attitude directly affects Denmark. Refugees should remain refugees and the integration of refugees remains an issue within the European Union. Denmark should respect the EU policies regarding the freedom of movement of people, however, Denmark should recognize the draining effects refugees have on the country. Therefore I suggest that it is made clear to international institutions that peacekeeping troops are to promote a resolution to the refugee
Peacekeeping is an important attribute to Canadian identity. To endorse peace, the Canadian Peace Congress was created in 1949. It advocated for the ban of nuclear weapons and arms race particularly during 1970-1980s. Furthermore, Canada was involved in United Nations since 1945. An important figure in peacekeeping of Canada was Lester B. Pearson, a Canadian prime minister who reigned from 1963 to 1968.

In The Next Canada: In Search of Our Future Nation Myrna Kostash assesses the future of Canada, one that she argues is different from her own generation. For the purpose of this research paper I will focus on Kostash’s subsection on culture and media – pages 65 to 76. ISIS has had probably one of the biggest impacts on Canada ever since Justin Trudeau has started to let refugees or immigrants into Canada, some of those refugees and immigrants are part of ISIS. The first reason ISIS has made an impact is that they have been trying to kill people, but a lot of the people who tried killing people failed and have been sent to court. Some of the examples are. September 25th an ISIS member tried killing a police officer at 10:04pm after running the cop over with a silver chevy and getting out and stabbing the cop 8 times in the legs and running off into a u-haul van.

Canada was essentially enslaved to the mother country, Britain. This signified that Canada was not truly a free country in the past, as decisions were made without its input. Britain controlled Canada through numerous ways. For example, in World War I, Canada was automatically drafted to join alongside them, expressing that Canada’s freedom was restricted.
The Greatest Canadian Soldier There have been many significant people throughout Canada’s history that have had a big influence on how our society is today, not only did these people shape our country into what it is today, but their influence also made changes specifically in their respective centuries that have made ripple effects that continued into the modern day and age. One individual, among these many great people that made a huge impact during their time, was Arthur Curry. Also known as "Canada's greatest soldier", Sir Arthur Currie was a military leader in World War I (1914-1918). In 1917, he achieved the historic milestone of being the first Canadian to assume command of a regiment within the armed forces of the British Empire (1).
How War and Peace has Defined Canada Many different themes have defined Canada: war and peace is one of those themes. World War I and World War II defined Canada as it grew into a powerful middle power. War created a strong economy and strengthened the women’s movement, however it strained the ties between French and English Canada. Canada’s peacekeeping missions helped define it as a strong peacekeeping force and built national pride.
Canada 's role in the world has been a strong one. They have helped and saved many people independently and with the help of other country 's and alliances. Some of these roles were very beneficial to our future. Some of the major roles were with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, United Nations and North American Air Defense Agreement. These roles have created a more open country.
This comprehensive annotated bibliography discusses about the poor mental health of the refugees and asylum seekers under detention in developed countries. This sits within the “Social Work Practice in Mental Health” and “Social Work with Refugee Survivors of Torture and Trauma” categories of Social Work fields of practice (Alston and McKinnon, 2005) and uses sources from Australian publications on these issues. The sources cited suggest that due to the large number of refugees and asylum seekers, governments of developed countries have implemented policies to deter people from seeking asylum such as immigration detention policies, strict visa restrictions, rigorous border checks and the stopping of voyages of vessels suspected of carrying smuggled asylum seekers (Silove et al. 2000). The refugees and asylum seekers go through tremendous amount of mental suffering and the worst affected are small children and adolescents.
Not only that, but they do it by the millions, moving in independent crowds step by step on the grounds that there is security (Acuesta, 2017). The explanations for their movement include issues such as social, racial, religious and political persecution, war, climate change, hunger and gender orientation. These vulnerable refugees have no other choice than to seek protection and we are denying their human rights and stripping away their human dignity. A United Nations Refugee Agency survey conducted in Australia in 2011 showed that 35% of people favoured turning back boats or detention of arrivals and deportation, while only 22% favoured eligibility for permanent settlement. Clearly there is much controversy surrounding this issue as it can create many effects within a nations, both positive and negative.
Some countries are open and actively working to promote well-being through charity and acts to achieve justice. In opposition some countries are not willing to take on the responsibilities of letting displaced people into their borders. After seeing the lifestyle displaced people face each day the film encouraged me to do what I can to spread awareness about the unsteady world refugees face. I know that I would have a difficult time living like a displaced person and I cannot begin to image the fear, sadness, and struggles each day brings. Although, as an individual I do not feel I can achieve much impact, I do believe that sharing the messages presented in the film will bring greater understanding to others and from there a stronger force can be achieved.
Anthony J. D 'Angelo. One thing is very clear: these few countries doing their best to help refugees can’t manage the refugee issue on their own. We need global cooperation. Therefore, the only solution is moving on to end the bloodbaths and poverty lakes while simultaneously accepting the humanitarian responsibility of taking in the refugees. Migration is a global issue.
