Communication is facilitated between the home and the classroom mostly through an app called Kinvolved that the school pays for which allows the teacher to send parents direct messages or group reminders. The teacher expressed how hopeful this app was to her because she can let parents know if their child is coming late to class, or if there will be a half day sometime in that week. This is also an easy way for the parent to keep the teacher updated and let her know what is going on. For example, a parent might respond and let her know that they are at a doctor’s appointment. Starting on December 1st, the school started parent-teacher conference time every Tuesday from 2:30-3:00 P.M. and if she had an annual IEP that was due this would be the perfect time for her to use. The teacher also utilizes pick-up time to talk to parents if they have any concerns or if she feels like she has to address something. Every Monday the teacher sends a homework sheet home with the children for the parents to look at incase the child forgets to look at his student at his student assignment notebook. In the homework sheet that she sends to the parents she also includes reminders for parents to speak about with their children such as getting to school on time and zero tolerance for bullying.
The teacher believes that it is essential and crucial for education to work alongside parents and caregivers. Parents need to be a part of it in order for education and learning to happen. If education is
