Imagine going back to school and 17 people you see around the hallways or even know personally are never going to be there again. This is what student in Parkland, Florida had to go through. Now students want no one else to go through this. Guns are devices that people use to feel safe. They are gadgets that police use to keep order and for emergencies, but guns are also killing people. The present gun laws in America are not enough to keep people from dying. Other countries, like Switzerland, have restrictive gun laws and their gun violence rates are immensely lower. The American government needs to learn from them. Isn’t all the mass shooting and gun violence enough to show the government how much America needs more restrictive gun laws? Americans need to help make a change to keep more innocent people from dying. Too many lives are being taken because of violent shootings. According to everytownresearch.org, “On an average day 96 Americans are killed with guns. Additionally, on average there are nearly 13,000 gun homicides a year in the United States.” David Frum, Daily Beast and CNN contributor, stated, “About 200 Americans go to emergency rooms every day with gunshot wounds." This 2018 there was a mass shooting in a school at Parkland, Florida. 17 students and staff died at Stoneman Douglas High School. It was just supposed to be a normal Valentines day, but it turned out being the day that 17 lives were taken. Students all over America have protested, showing bravery
