Have you ever heard of the Harlem Renaissance? The Harlem Renaissance was an impactful time for African American history where it expressed the art, poems, music, stories, and paintings of black artists many of the works of the Harlem Renaissance show how the art and poems fight racism however some works convey these themes better than others. through the art, music, poems, stories, and paintings they all show the importance of working together. In the song Lift Every Voice and Sing and in the poems, The Negro Speaks of Rivers, and Hope all of which help convey the importance of working together.
The first work from the Harlem Renaissance that best demonstrates the importance of working together is Lift Every Voice and Sing. An example of the author conveying the theme of community in this work is, “Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us, Facing the rising sun of our new day begun Let us march on till victory is won.” This quote from the song shows the importance of working together by describing the dark past of African American history by using figurative langue it then describes how there is hope for the future and that it will be brighter than the past and to achieve that they must do …show more content…
