To what extent are we honest about our place in the universe? I have a question for the previous question. Does it really matter where we are physically? We know we live on Earth, which is in the Milky Way Galaxy only a small portion of the large expanse that we know is our universe. The truth of it is that it can go on forever and ever and we wouldn’t know. We are so insignificant, it’s hard to comprehend, to the larger picture that the universe is, but even though we are miniscule grains of sand in this life we have a huge impact. Our legacy that we leave behind is more important than where we are physically. Randy Pausch would agree with the above statements. He was told that he only had months to live because his pancreatic cancer was taking over his vitals. Pausch could have easily decided to mope around and become a recluse, but he did the opposite. He inspired many with his speech “The Last Lecture” when his purpose of writing it was for his three little kids. He knew the value of life. He said, “The talk isn’t just about how to achieve your childhood dreams. It’s much broader than that. It’s about how to live your life…” We never know what day with be our last. Calvin brings into account how we learn our life on Earth is fleeting. He then asks several questions many of us ask on a daily basis. “Is our quick experience here pointless? Does anything we say or do in here really matter? Have we done anything important? Have we been happy?
