“Soldier’s Heart,” by Gary Paulsen is a book about a boy named Charley, who joined the Civil War at age 15. As Gary Paulsen was writing this novel in 1998, the novel becomes impacted because Gary Paulsen only had second hand information about the Civil War, which could cause inaccuracies in the story. He tries to be as accurate as he can by using real life accounts to make this story believable. This book shows how the ideas that people believe are appalling may be needed in survival situations. In the story Charley was ordered to kill Confederate horses to give the sick soldiers meat around the Washington camp that were dying of dehydration and starvation.
In life, people find different ways to cope with their issues. This is the case in “Vaclav and Lena” by Hayley Tanner, where the main characters Vaclav and Lena face many obstacles, but use their imaginations to help them deal with the struggles they face in reality. This relates to the quote “Imagination is the one weapon in the in the war against reality” by Jules de Gautier, because Vaclav and Lena use their imaginations and dreams of better things to come, to ignore the problems they currently face. Vaclav and Lena use their imaginations and dreams of the future to forget about their issues momentarily, and to be able to postpone dealing with them.
My thesis would be about Trying different roles and gender role-playing while the experimenting with one’s sexuality. “Exchanging Hats” by Elizabeth Bishop is a whimsical poem about experimenting with pushing gender dress to the limits of acceptability. Hats are customarily used to define a person’s role in society or profession. This poem uses that mantra to depict the different roles that people play, and the different hats they wear to emphasize those roles.

She would so have liked to please, to be envied, to be charming, to be sought after.” In the short story The Necklace, Guy de Maupassant unspoken theme of discontentment was evident in the life of Mathilde Loisel. By Irodakhon Abirazakova “Miss Brill” is a short fictional story which was written by Katherine Mansfield in 1922. Personally I don’t really like this story, because it is very confusing and very hard to know what is going to happened, and what is going on this story. Miss Brill is a main character of this story, which is a little bit in mind. She is also the most faced character, the narrator describes her with different sides, which helps us to see her several sides of her nature. She is described as an old woman who lives in a small flat.
