MDG In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Rainsford is on a boat out in the middle of the sea with his friend Whitney that are going on a hunting trip together. While there out a storm comes and Rainsford is smoking a pipe and it falls out of his hand and he leans over and tries to grab it, but instead they hit a rough patch and ends up and falling in the deep shivering sea. Rainsford struggles to stay afloat, he watches as the boat slowly disappears until he can't see it at all. Rainsford ends up and finding himself on a little island where he meets General Zaroff.

The main character, Rainsford is on a yacht with a women named Whitney when the waves of the ocean knocked Rainsford off the yacht. He then goes unconscious and is washed up on a Caribbean island. Soon after he is greeted by a Big soldier in all black uniform named Ivan.
“The cry was pinched off as the blood-warm waters of the Caribbean Sea closed over his head”, only shortly into “The Most Dangerous Game” and Richard Connell already has us wanting more. In “The Most Dangerous Game”, Connell uses many literary devices to involve the reader further into the convolute labyrinth created as the story progresses. Such use of literary devices leaves the reader spellbound with the idiosyncrasy of Connells adventure. If the devices were absent we as the reader would be lost in the tedious and dry world that such literary devices had been outcast by the author. Literary devices are highly valuable in their use in items such as poetry, epics, and the everyday life of anybody and everybody.

He ends up finding the perfect match due to his skills at hunting. Rainsford is then told the master plan of the General and Rainsford claims he is degrading the value of life. Rainsford is now given an choice certain death or near certain death with Ivan getting to kill him or the chance oh three days and you must survive or kill the General.
