Themes are something present in everyone’s life. Some don’t apply to you, but others do. From the works we have studied this year, the themes I have chosen to include love has sacrifices, from Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, the theme of grief in Red Cloud’s speech, and the role of gender in A Lamb to The Slaughter by Roald Dahl. First off, love has sacrifices is an easy theme and is stated in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet are a pair of star-crossed lovers who are in a forbidden relationship by their warring families.
The themes are forgiveness, lost dreams, and how children can sometimes be more mature than the adults and parents. Forgiveness is a huge theme in the novel because Jeanette shows that no matter how much her parents put her through, she is able to overcome the hardships and chase her dreams without them. When she eventually accomplishes this, she’s still there to help and care for her parents. She is able to forgive them for everything in the end. The next theme is lost dreams.
It also shows how they had to be forced to back down to something that wasn’t their fault. The last piece of evidence for the theme would be when Cassie was forced to apologize to Lilean Jean when they accidentally bumped into each other at Strawberry. Even though it wasn't intentional, both Lilean Jean and her father, Mr.Simms, both got mad at Cassie, forcing her to say that Cassie was sorry for doing it. This made Big Ma have to step in and in order to protect Cassie, made her apologize anyway.
The first theme would be don't judge a book by it's cover, this is because they assumed that Ms. Lottie just had the flowers just because they looked good, not knowing they had a significance and a meaning to her, everyone just thought because she had some pretty flowers in her yard they
Some people's life stories can show us the hardships that one can go through in history or the future for the upcoming generation to share their story. One of the books that i've read was ‘Night’. The author is the main character of the story, Elie Wiesel, who went through a german concentration camp that was meant for people to work till they drop, literally. The second book is ‘Boys in The Boat’, by Daniel James Brown. In this book a boy named Joe Rantz as the main character, this story talks about how he and his team won gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
The theme is developed by how Jeannette learns how to take care of herself and her younger siblings, and the way her parent taught her. Jeannette have a very tough childhood where she have to go up quickly,so that she can work to make money. This way she won’t starve and feel the chill of winter, where there’s no heat in the house. She can also break ties with the move and rent new house to find new money sources because her dad can’t hold a job for a long
Another reason for family being the theme is that her family is important to her and she cares a lot about all of her family members. The last and final reason for family being the main theme is that her family is always there for her in tough times and is there to support/cheer her up when she is struggling or something tragic happens. Overall, family is the most important theme for many reasons.
This underlying theme significantly contributes to the overall storyline providing a unique characterization to each character, allowing the reader to really experience the character’s emotional development through the novel. The theme of love can be identified from the very beginning of the novel.
Myops theme is the loss of innocence, which she loses at the end when she leaves her flowers with the dead man. She lost her innocence because she was ten-years-old and came across a harsh death, which her flowers could represent. She lays down the flowers, her innocence, and leaves it behind in the gloomy area that she came upon. Connies theme on the other hand is being taken from childhood to adulthood. She is taken from a place that she knows and introduced to a more harsher reality.
The helpful, the trustworthy, the narcissists, and the hateful. These are just some of the categories that people are placed in the books Maus by Art Spiegelman, and Night by Elie Wiesel. These authors use the strategy of labeling characters with certain attributes or characteristics to make their personalities clearer. Everyone from main characters to brief appearances in these stories are given a certain nature from the beginning. Art Spiegelman and Elie Wiesel both use characterization to display the different types of people in the Holocaust.
Theme is the message about life or human nature that is “the focus” in the story that the writer tells ( Glossary of Literary Terms 3). A theme in this story would be “Love and Blindness”. This falls under the theme category because it is saying love itself changes the way you are as a person but it also has its blindness. The “blindness” is not so much of not being able to see them physically but how they truly are as a person. A person can be very depressing, arrogant, or even abusive but the person in love will see past it hence the term blind.
To me the best theme in the story is friendship. I believe that every person needs to show friendship to
All the themes of the novel link together, as family and friends resolve Taylors story arc by giving her a place to belong. Ultimately, the themes of the novel are used in such a way that allows readers to gain a better understanding of the characters. The themes of the novel are themes of the major characters worlds, essentially giving readers a look inside the characters head. Melanie Marchetta applied language techniques to furthermore emphasise the themes of the story. Overall, the authors use of themes created a fictional world full of complex and realistic
