Should Abortion be Legal? Should woman have the right to have an abortion or should it be considered murder and be made illegal? Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy by the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
One of the most debated topics in today's society is abortion, or whether women should be allowed to abort their babies within the first 28 weeks of their pregnancy. The argument on each sides of this debate is between pro-lifers, who believe no human being should have their life taken, while the other side consists of pro-choicers, who believe that women should be able to do whatever they want with their body. I believe that any parent has the right to get an abortion and that the right to abortion should be protected by the government. …show more content…

Many people believe that the government does not have the right to intervene on a woman’s pregnancy. As Eric Segall states, “Our Constitution and political system place a heavy premium on personal liberty and the right to live one’s life as one sees fit”(Segall). This statement says that the government plays a large role in protecting the personal liberties and rights of its people. Preventing a mother from being able to abort a childbirth is a complete invasion on the individual freedoms of that person. “all women deserve the right to control their own bodies, without interference from anyone” (Smith). Apparently, many women’s rights fighters feel that taking away the right to get an abortion is basically telling a woman that she cannot have control over their own bodies.
