While the school administration argues that the dress code brings school unity, they are wrong because it takes away a sense of individuality from each student (Logos, concede). In today’s society, people use fashion and their daily outfits as a key way to express themselves. Students are constantly told throughout their school careers that they should demonstrates what makes them “different”, yet uniforms deny that sense of self-expression. According to Grace Chen of the Public School Review, uniforms may result in students turning to “other avenues of self-expression that may be viewed as even more inappropriate than clothing” (Ethos, professional credibility). This includes a nontraditional hairstyle, make up, or acting out towards authority at school or at home.
An article by Grace Chen states “...uniforms stifle a student’s need for self-expression. By denying students the opportunity to fully express their unique personality through the clothing they select, individualism is unable to develop to its fullest capacity.” The quote above means, that because of uniforms, children act more like everyone else, they are all dressed the same. The same article goes on to talk about how it could potentially harm them in the real world, them not knowing how it works. Strict uniform codes, make students less unique and less likely to express themselves.
Should school uniforms be a thing for Crawford County? My belief is that it should be a real thing. Uniforms help regulate violence. School uniforms make you dress for success.
Forcing students to wear that one uniform is giving fish, whereas, letting them decide what they wear within certain limitatioons in is teaching them how to fish. If RC made students wear the same formal uniform everyday, it wouldn't ready students to work-life. Obviously, these students won't be wearing their school uniform to work. they would only know the same boring shirt and they'll have no idea ow to make their wardrobe to fit the formal standarts of work. The dress code that RC has right now, is a great one to let students adapt to wearing formal clothes (of their own choice) and ready them to work life, therefore it would be totally nonsense to force students to wear formal uniforms instead of letting them learn how to dress

I agree with these students and I wouldn’t want to be forced to wear a uniform either. To begin, parents don’t want to pay the extra money for a school uniform. It’s extremely expensive and the student 's parents have to buy even more appliances on top of that. Dating back to 1222, people have been at odds over the topic of uniforms. The drastic changes between uniforms then and now has played a role in the what is considered “appropriate” or professional. The first uniform recognized for students to wear was established in England when Archbishop of Canterbury ordered that all students wear a robe-like outfit called the “cappa Clausa” (History of School Uniforms). Centuries later, the concept of uniforms were seen to be associated with people in the upper class, but over time had spread to private and conservative schools and some public schools. Despite the continuity of uniforms throughout educational institutions, students are being forced to promote conformity rather than individuality.
School pride is very important at my school, so having a uniform allows students to really represent their school and have the student body know they are a part of something. Source F states, “Wearing a uniform is a badge of pride, creates an identity for a school and is an important part of being a school student “Uniforms show that you are part of an organisation. Wearing it says we’re all in this together,” Jason Wing,” (Source F). This shows that when all students dress the same, they know they are representing their school and themselves as a student while having a sense of comfort because everyone is dressed the same. My school and along with many other schools struggle with the problem of school pride and getting students involved.
There are three major positions on this issue. The first position is that student dress codes are necessary to produce a safe and productive environment for students, which will facilitate high achievement. The second position goes even farther, and says that dress codes should mandate uniforms for all students, claiming that the uniforms will make students focus more while removing concerns about fashion differences that would otherwise harm their self-esteem. Last, there is the position that school uniforms are unnecessary, and that they pose an unfair cost burden to families and restrict students' constitutional rights to free expression. Each side has some evidence in its favor, but ultimately the lack of hard statistics on costs and grading effects from dress codes make it apparent that more research is necessary to figure out what position has the best support for
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.
In conclusion, school uniforms are a great thing to have in schools. Even though there is that argument on whether school uniforms will violate the right of self-expression to students it will continue either way. At the end of the day students should see that there are more positive effects with uniforms rather than negative ones. It should be taking in consideration that the clothes a student wears will not determine the ability of learning, but why not pick school uniforms that can help stop current school

Feelings on school uniforms seem to differ as much as the reasons for having them, hate it, or love it. Recent studies done in the University of Alabama states that: “Student Uniform use was not significantly correlated with any of the school commitment variables. In addition, students wearing uniforms did not appear to have any significantly different academic performance” (Brunsma & Rockquemore, 1998). The problem whether schools should still be continuously implemented is a highly debatable topic.
